| Customer Reviews: Didnt work on my bike August 27, 2010 M. Rodgers (Cambridge, MA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It looks like a great seat though it didnt fit my bike.
My bike has a welded piece of metal on the seat post to hold the brake wire.
This was the only location on a short post to attach the seat.
It was impossible to attach.
A seat for miles of smiles August 17, 2010 Wendy Sanem (Eagle River, AK) This seat was a hit from the moment I took it out of the box. My 20 m.o. loved playing on it. Then, when I put it on the bicycle, she was really thrilled. It has been great fun for us both. I love having her ride up on the bike with me instead of in a trailer on the ground. No trouble with dust or mud flying at her. And she's up high and safer with me in case we come across aggressive-looking dogs, bears, etc. I was worried that the bicycle would ride awkwardly with the additional weight of the seat and child, but it rides great. I can maneuver well on narrow trails. Also, the suspension system works great when we hit the bumps. The assembly instructions were straight forward and fit my no-suspension mtn bike fine. With her bike helmet on I feel she is pretty well protected. Of course, I ride rather conservatively--all in all I think the seat is pretty safe. One safety aspect that I am very concious of is that I keep a good hold on the bike any time the child is in the seat and I'm off the bike. If I'm off the bike, then she comes out of the seat--but that gives her more opportunities to stretch her legs than if she was in a trailer. One other thing--don't wear pants with an elastic waistband or your kid may entertain herself during the ride by depantsing you!
Okay but not great. August 2, 2010 Randall L. Verran (USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
First, I was not happy that as a customer I was mislead into believing that this item did not include the required adapter because it made no mention in the advertisement that the adapter was already included. Thus, I selected an option (provided by Amazon and both items sold by Amazon as the original vendor) on the bottom of screen to purchase both the child carrier and adapter. Bottom line, I had to pay for shipping for something I didn't need and could not be reimbursed the shipping. I was reimbursed in Promotion "value" toward another future purchase for the return shipping, but I am still out on the cost of the original shipping!
Second, as many other reviewers wrote, this item has many issues with the adapter placement on the bike and difficult installation. I called Kettler (as well as many other vendors) about whether or not this would fit on my bike before I even bought it. The final and only answer they could give me was "buy it and if it doesn't fit then return it". I decided to risk it and purchase this item. Well I got it to fit on my bike and installed correctly to the directions (pictures only) provided by the owner's manual. However, I can barely pedal on the bike without hitting the foot holders on the child carrier. It works good enough to keep the purchase but barely.
Before buying this item, make sure your package already includes the adapter so your not wasting time and money purchasing an additional adapter. My package already included the adapter. Second, I'm not sure what style of bike this child carrier is supposed to fit (because they do not provide a recommended bicycle list on the Kettler website or in the owner's manual) but I have a standard mountain bike that could be used for both road and mild off road use and it barely worked.
Kettler Teddy Bike Carrier June 5, 2010 Elizabeth A. Ryan A bit tricky to install, but well worth it.
I wanted something sturdy for my daughter who is 3. It works well and I know we will get another year out of it at least. It fits great on my old cruiser like bike. The best features are that it's sturdy up to 50lbs, and that it so easily comes off and on the bike. Great when storing, and traveling with the bikes on the bike rack.
Excellent child carrier October 26, 2009 Sven De Bie (San Jose, CA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was looking for a child bike seat that I could install on my bike, which already has a good rack (with rear light). This one hooks up only to the frame, so it will fit on most bikes. The hookup has an adapter that supports different thicknesses of the frame (supports 28, 30, 32 and 35mm). With one-click, you can remove or install the seat. It has a 3-point harness, not a 5-point, but it is safe enough.
The seat requires quite some installation, so plan an hour for that, before you go on a trip.
One negative point is the size of the bags. I was hoping I could get the diapers, sweaters, jacket, spare clothes and my lock in there, but it doesn't fit. So I limited myself to 2 diapers, some wet tissues and a jacket.
